GIZ Cambodia Executive Team visiting Walailak University: Learning and Sharing Experiences on Medical Technology and Doctor of Medicine programs.

School of Allied Health Sciences, Walailak University led by Assoc. Prof. Jitbanjong Tangpong, Dean of School of Allied Health Sciences, is pleased to welcome an executive team from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) Cambodia study visit during 26June2022-1July2022 at Walailak University, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand. The purpose of the visit is to learn about the Medical Technology (Medical Lab Sciences) and Medical program which covers teaching and learning system, UKPSF, classroom management and assessment process, implementing professional practice of MT and MD, and quality improvement of the program. Our school is a co-host with the Center for International Affairs (CIA), Walailak University.

Regarding the GIZ Cambodia team, there are a representative from Health Science Institute of Royal Cambodia Arm Forces (HSI-RCAF), Khmer Soviet Friendship Hospital (KSFH). The team is led by Dr. HING Kong, Deputy Director, HSI-RCAF, Cambodia. During the 5 days visit, the agenda has been arranged to support our guests which included the study visit of the Medical Technology program from School of Allied Health Sciences, Medical program from School of Medicine, our school has also scheduled to visit a smart classroom and laboratory, join the teaching class, visit Walailak University hospital and Sichon hospital. We do hope that this study visit will provide a useful information and enhance the exchange of ideas and suggestions on the program in we can apply our knowledge to improve our program and help implementing the healthcare program in Cambodia.

SAH International Affairs present “Biomedical engineering: A gateway to the future” by Asst.Prof. Dr. Dali Sun

Biomedical Engineering is a discipline in Engineering, Biology and Medicine that aims to improves human health through cross-disciplinary activities which integrate biomedical sciences and engineering sciences with clinical practice. This knowledge is important for medical inventions that help people around the world to live longer, healthier, and more-productive lives.

As per discussed with North Dakota State University, USA by Dean School of Allied Health Sciences, Walailak University, Assoc. Prof. Dr.Jitbanjong Tangpong, we all agree to share this knowledge and discuss for future research collaboration between universities. Asst.Prof.Dr.Dali Sun, an expert on Biomedical Engineering from Electrical and Computing Engineering, Biomedical Engineering Program, North Dakota State University, USA, is invited to share his research experience with academic staffs at Walailak University. In addition, 2 representative staffs from our school, Dr. Chadapa Rungruangbaiyok from Physical Therapy and Dr. Kunwadee Noonong from Medical Technology will share their research work in this event. SAH Lunch Talk on Office Syndrome

There is an increase in number of office employees due to an increase of a workload and working hours in many workplaces. The encouragement of overwork by employers leads to a significant spread of musculoskeletal disorders among the employees. In addition, some employee might have a pathology of neck, back, spine, and joints together with the musculoskeletal pain which may lead to a short-term loss of working capacity.

Concerning about the health of office employees, School of Allied Health Science and the Center for International Affair, Walailak University will organize a virtual meeting on office syndrome and you are cordially invited to attend the meeting, “SAH Lunch Talk on Office Syndrome” on 4Apr2022, 12.00-01.00pm. This is our great pleasure that we will have Prof.Kei Nagashima, from Waseda University, Japan who conducts a research on the office syndrome. Prof.Kei will present his work with a title of “Office syndrome-its etiology from the view of body fluid and circulation physiology”. We are also pleased to have Dr. Parinya Vongvaivanichakul, from Department of Physical Therapy, School of Allied Health Sciences, Walailak University to provide you the office syndrome information from a basic knowledge to a prevention of this syndrome in a workplace.

Medical Technology (Bilingual Program) held a special talk by Dr. Narissara Ngamkajornviwat

Dr. Narissara Ngamkajornviwat, M.D., Director of Southern regional hospital of tropical dermatology-Trang province, was invited to give a special talk entitled “Visiting professor” for Medical Technology (Bilingual Program) students on March 5, 2022. BP students who intern at the University of Kentucky, University of Florida, and North Dakota State University, also participated in a virtual lecture. The special lecture was operated under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the School of Allied Health Sciences, Walailak University, and Southern regional hospital of tropical dermatology-Trang province.
