SAH Students Selected for Kitasato Global Camp 2026 Gain International Healthcare Experience in Japan

Two outstanding students from the School of Allied Health Sciences, Walailak University (SAH-WU) have been selected to participate in the Kitasato Global Camp 2026 (Kitasato Global Program for Team-based Healthcare Practice), held from 8-15 March 2026 at Kitasato University, Japan. The selected representatives are Mr. Phuriputn Thammawatcharaporn (3rd year, Medical Technology Program) and Ms. Rusna Marapeh (3rd year, Physical Therapy Program), who were chosen through a competitive selection process for this prestigious international program, which offers only 2 seats (1 MT and 1 PT student).

The program focuses on team-based healthcare practice and interdisciplinary learning, bringing together students from diverse health science disciplines, including medicine, pharmacy, nursing, and allied health sciences. Key highlights include keynote lectures, case-based discussions, collaborative group work, and student presentations, allowing participants to develop essential competencies in clinical reasoning, teamwork, communication, and cultural competency in an international setting. A particularly remarkable highlight of the program is the opportunity to meet the 2015 Nobel Prize laureate, Prof. Satoshi Omura, offering invaluable inspiration and insight into global scientific innovation and healthcare advancement. This is a truly exceptional experience that will motivate students to pursue excellence in their academic and professional careers. In addition to academic activities, students will engage in campus visits at Kitasato University (Sagamihara and Shirokane campuses), cultural exchange activities, and networking with international peers, further enhancing their global perspective and professional development.

The program is supported through collaboration between Kitasato University and the School of Allied Health Sciences, Walailak University, with partial financial support from Kitasato University covering airfare, accommodation, and meals, and additional partial support from SAH-WU to assist with international flight expenses. Participation in this program reflects Walailak University’s strong commitment to fostering internationalization and preparing students to become globally competent healthcare professionals. This achievement also strengthens the long-standing collaboration between Walailak University and Kitasato University and paves the way for future global engagement opportunities.
