The session showcased two distinct yet complementary approaches to addressing fall risks among older adults—one focusing on environmental hazards through technology and the other examining intrinsic biological risk factors.
1️⃣ Asree Chedang captivated the audience with a presentation entitled “Falls Sensei: A Serious 3D Exploration Game to Enable the Detection of Extrinsic Home Fall Hazards for Older Adults.” The study explores how immersive 3D gaming technology can be used as an innovative educational tool to identify and reduce environmental fall hazards in older adults’ homes, integrating healthcare objectives with interactive digital design.
2️⃣ Nichapat Rassamee followed with an insightful presentation entitled “Investigating the Relationship Between Sagittal Spinal Curvature, Fall Incidence, and Fall Risk Among Elderly Nursing Home Residents.” The study investigates the relationship between sagittal spinal curvature and fall risk, examining how changes in the spine’s natural curvature may affect balance, mobility, and the incidence of falls among older adults living in nursing homes.
