Prof. Dr. Xi Yang in the Department of Biological Sciences and the Knoebel Institute for Healthy Aging. His placement focuses on the role of lysosome biology in aging and neurodegeneration, using approaches such as cell culture and molecular assays to study lysosomal function. He is also exploring how lysosomal dysfunction contributes to cancer and lysosomal storage disorders (LSDs), with the aim of advancing new therapeutic strategies for these complex diseases.

๐ŸŽฏ Alongside their laboratory training, the students had the chance to broaden their cultural perspectives. During the visit of Asst. Prof. Dr. Suriyan Sukati to Denver, the group explored ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ƒ๐ž๐ง๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ ๐Œ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฎ๐ฆ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐๐š๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ž ๐š๐ง๐ ๐’๐œ๐ข๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ž, where they engaged with exhibits on health, space, and earth sciences. A highlight was the museumโ€™s famous dinosaur fossil collection, which gave the students a unique opportunity to connect their scientific training with a deeper appreciation of natural history and discovery.
