Prof. Julien Pompon Visits Walailak University to Enhance Research on Mosquito Vectors
Montpellier, France - Walailak University welcomed Prof. Julien Pompon from MIVEGEC-IRD for a five-day visit from October 22-26, 2024, initiated by Dr. Jiraporn Jaroenpool. The visit aimed to familiarize Prof. Pompon with the university's environment and research facilities while fostering collaboration on arboviruses ex. Dengue Virus, Japanese Encephalitis Virus (JEV), etc and mosquito vectors.
During his stay, Prof. Pompon delivered three insightful lectures that significantly enriched the faculty's understanding of viral transmission and the role of sfRNA in mosquito vectors. His expertise in effective manuscript preparation for high-impact journals was especially valuable, providing attendees with practical guidance on enhancing their publications.
The faculty members expressed gratitude for Prof. Pompon’s contributions, which have positively impacted their research capabilities. They also appreciated the warm hospitality extended by Dr. Suthasinee Sangkhum, Assistant to the President, and Asst. Prof. Patnarin Supakorn, CIA Director, as well as Assoc. Prof. Voravuth Somsak, Dean of the School of Allied Health Sciences.
In addition to the lectures, discussions were held on potential collaborations involving student and staff mobility, highlighting the promising future of partnership between the institutions. The successful organization of the visit was made possible by Dr. Jiraporn and the dedicated SAH driven-mission team.
