From April 25th to 27th, 2024, a delegation of 42 students, accompanied by six esteemed faculty members and an academic staff, embarked on an enriching academic journey to Istanbul, Türkiye. Hailing from the esteemed School of Allied Health Sciences at Walailak University, the delegation delved into a multifaceted exploration of medical advancements and research trends.

Their voyage commenced with an illuminating visit to the prestigious Faculty of Pharmacy at Istanbul University. Immersed in a dynamic exchange of knowledge, they delved into the intricate art of phytochemical extraction from medicinal plants, explored cutting-edge trends in medical research, and marveled at the latest technological innovations in the field of medicine.
The pinnacle of their academic expedition was marked by their participation in the esteemed 10th International Mediterranean Symposium on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (MESMAP-10). Among the distinguished scholars, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jitbanjong Tangpong was honored to deliver a captivating lecture titled “Garcinia mangostana (A Queen of Fruit): Biological Properties in Relation to Health Promotion,” showcasing the rich potential of natural resources in promoting human well-being.

Further exemplifying Walailak University’s commitment to scholarly excellence, Asst. Prof. Dr. Suriyan Sukati, alongside Sutthichai Thaokhamwong and Viva Jitcheun, showcased their groundbreaking research on the “Fibrinolytic and Thrombolytic Potential of Indigenous Vegetables from Southern Thailand.” Meanwhile, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chonticha Romyasamit and Gridthin Ungrattanachai presented their pioneering research on the “Antioxidant, Antibacterial, and Antibiofilm Activities of Aqueous Crude Gymnema inodorum Leaf Extract Against Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococcus faecium,” garnering acclaim for their innovative approach to combating antibiotic resistance.

In addition, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nateelak Kooltheat, alongside Pimchanok Jenjai and Chonnawee Chamnanvaschakit, shared insights into the “Phytochemical Compositions, Antioxidant Activities, and Anti-Inflammatory Activities of Artemisia lactiflora Extract,” shedding light on potential therapeutic avenues.
The scholarly odyssey continued with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wetpisit Chanmol and Panupong Yaya presenting their pioneering research on the “Antileishmanial Activity and In Silico Molecular Docking Studies of Zingiber cassumunar Roxb. Extract against Leishmania chagasi,” underscoring the university’s commitment to advancing global health initiatives.
