On Monday 12 October 2020, School of Allied Health Sciences was welcome the 5s model award assessment committee from Technology Promotion Association (Thailand-Japan) along with Asst. Prof. Dr. Voravuth Somsak, Vice Dean of School of Allied Health Sciences and Head of 5s Green, Walailak University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jitbanjong Tangpong, Dean of School of Allied Health Sciences, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sarawoot Palipoch, Vice President for Student Affair. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suwit Wuthisuthimethavee, Vice President for Administration was also participated as the president for this event at Rachawadee Meeting Room, Academic building 7, Walailak University

          Graduation ceremony for academic year 2019 has been organized by Walailak University on September 25, 2020, and there were 2,028 graduates for this event. All staffs of School of Allied Health Sciences were joined to congratulate the graduates. Moreover, our graduate, Chitipat Thepneum, who received the “Outstanding Alumni Award 2019”

          The graduate affair, School of Allied Health Sciences, has managed the relaxing corner for the students in the advantages of talking and counseling in several topics such as how to live in the University, how to study and learn, as well as student meeting. Anyway, close supervision from advisors is also considered. Therefore, "SAH Smile Club" has been opened for these mentions earlier on Thursday 20 February, 2020 at SAH Smile club room (SAH corner 3), 2 floor, Academic building. This event has been get the attention from the students to participate in the above activities very well.

          On February 17th, 2020, the prototype of health supplement products “Nipa palm vinegar powder and tablet” were exhibited by Asst. Prof. Dr. Wiyada Kwanhian, Department of Medical Technology, School of Allied Health Sciences, Walailak University with researchers from Walailak University in order to welcome Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn at coordinating center of Pak Phanang River Basin Development due to the Royal initiative, Nakhon Si Thammarat. This research product was granted from several funding agencies including Agricultural Research Development Agency (Public Organization), Thailand Research Fund, and Office of the Higher Education Commission.

          From the research finding, it was found that Nipa palm vinegar from Khanab Nak, Pak Phanang was marinated vinegar that suitable for functional food. Antioxidant, reduction of lipid digestion and absorption, anti-hyperglycemia, anti-hypertension, immunomodulation, and anti-bacteria were also observed. These effects were potent as similar as Apple cider vinegar and Balsamic vinegar. Moreover, when the Nipa palm vinegar powder was produced by spray dry technology, the activity was still remain. Therefore, this product should be studied and developed for commercial in the future that support agriculturists and upgrade the local product to be the high value.

          On Friday 14th February, 2020, Student Affair, School of Allied Health Sciences, Walailak University participated in merit-making activity of the traditional of giving alms to the fire by making crispy omelet with steamed rice for 63 monks and novices, and participants at the Dharma fair, Chor Pradu Food Center Walailak University. Walailak Abode of Culture was the host for this activity.

           For “the traditional of giving alms to the fire” it is a unique tradition of Buddhists in Nakhon Si Thammarat that have faith in Buddhism. Fire was lighted to warm and cook the food for monks and novices in the dawn morning. This activity is becoming a traditional that has been carried on for a long time.

          On 31 January 2020, Associate Professor Dr. Manas Kotepui from Research Unit, School of Allied Health Sciences delivered an opening remark and reported about the activity “How to search journals”. This activity was honored by Associate Professor Dr. Jitbanjong Tangpong, Dean of School of Allied Health Sciences who greeted Mr. Kosin Sirirak from Institute of Research and Innovation Policy as a speaker. He provided the knowledge of finding the journals for publication in the national (TCI) and international (SCOPUS, Web of science) databases, as well as suggesting the techniques for selecting a journal that are appropriate for own research article. There were more than 21 lecturers participating in this activity. Lastly, we would like to thank Mr. Kosin Sirirak for providing a lot of knowledge and techniques in selecting journals.

Wheel for life ล้อเลื่อนเคลื่อนชีวิต

Physical therapy students, Walailak University won the medal award in the elderly innovative contest in “Elderly in Digital Century Conference” which is organized by Foundation of Thai Gerontology Research and Development Institute (TGRI), Thai Health Promotion Foundation, and Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University. This conference was held on April 28, 2018. The innovation that received an award was initiated by nine students and the idea was encouraged by Dr. Anoma Santiworakul, the lecturer in Physical Therapy Department, School of Allied Health Science, Walailak University. The purpose of this innovation is to assist the motion for independent elderly, and it is called “The Wheel for Life”. Nowadays, this product is using to gain the movement in an elderly in community and hopefully it will increase the quality of life for the user.
