SAH IFTAR: Breaking the Fast during Ramadan

The School of Allied Health Sciences organized an Iftar (breaking of the fast) activity in celebration of the holy month of Ramadan for Muslim members of the community. The event aimed to promote understanding of cultural diversity and to strengthen relationships among faculty members, staff, and students.

 

The activity was held on February 25, 2026 (B.E. 2569) at Fuang Fah Room, Academic Building 7. The opening ceremony was presided over byAssoc.Prof.Dr. Voravuth Somsak, Dean of the School of Allied Health Sciences. The event was well attended by administrators, faculty members, staff, and many Muslim students.

 

In addition to making du’a (supplications) together, performing prayers, and sharing the Iftar meal in a warm and friendly atmosphere, the program also featured a special lecture entitled “How to Eat for Maximum Benefits during Fasting,” delivered by Assistant Professor Onggan Ranteh, a lecturer from the School of Public Health.

 

The School of Allied Health Sciences extends its heartfelt wishes for this Ramadan to be a month of mercy, peace, and blessings for everyone. “Ramadan Mubarak”

International MESMAP-12 and THAIMAP Conference Held at Bangsan Beach, Chonburi, Thailand

From January 21 to 24, 2026, the picturesque Bangsan Beach in Chonburi, Thailand, hosted the esteemed MESMAP-12 and THAIMAP international conference, bringing together researchers, scholars, and professionals from around the globe to advance the fields of medicinal and aromatic plants.

 

The conference was proudly hosted by the MESMAP team, led by Prof. Dr. Nazim SEKEROGLU, President of AMAPMED and General Coordinator of GOFMAP. Prof. Dr. Sekeroğlu is also a distinguished member of the Department of Biology at Gaziantep University, Turkey. Co-hosting the event was the School of Allied Health Sciences at Walailak University, with Prof. Jitbanjong Tangpong serving as a key representative alongside Walailak University’s dedicated team, including Asst. Prof. Sirirat Surinkeaw (Head of Medical Technology, International Program), Asst. Prof. Rachasak Boonhok (Assistant Dean for International Affairs), Asst. Prof. Suriyan Sukati, and Dr. Rehni Hossain.

 

The conference was graced by the gracious presence of the Turkish Ambassador and the General Director of Turkish Forestry, whose participation underscored the importance of international collaboration in this vital scientific field. Over 150 participants attended, including distinguished keynote speaker Prof. Barry Halliwell, whose presentation received widespread acclaim for its insightful perspective on antioxidant research.

 

Participants hailed from 39 countries, sharing groundbreaking research on medicinal plants from diverse regions of the world. The oral presentation sessions featured more than 60 researchers presenting their latest findings on the science, trends, and future directions of medicinal and aromatic plants. Additionally, the poster sessions provided an excellent platform for researchers, faculty, and students to exchange ideas, foster collaborations, and deepen their understanding of this rapidly evolving field.

 

Beyond the scientific content, attendees enjoyed the beautiful environment of Bangsan Beach and the Amari Bangsan Hotel, which provided a comfortable and inspiring setting for the conference. Participants delighted in authentic Thai cuisine, explored the scenic beaches, and engaged in a city tour of Chonburi, making the event both intellectually enriching and culturally enjoyable.

 

The organizers extend their heartfelt gratitude to all participants, faculty from Walailak University, and students for their active engagement in both the oral and poster sessions.

 

Looking ahead, preparations are underway for MESMAP-13, scheduled to take place in 2027. The host country will be announced soon, promising yet another exciting gathering for the global community dedicated to medicinal and aromatic plant research.

On 20 January 2026, the School of Allied Health Sciences, Walailak University, organized the Visiting Professor 2026 program at the Rachawadee Meeting Room, Academic Building 7, with the aim of fostering international academic exchange and strengthening research collaboration with distinguished scholars from abroad.
The event was warmly opened by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Voravuth Somsak, Dean of the School of Allied Health Sciences, who delivered a welcoming address to the honored guests. The program was attended by faculty members, staff, undergraduate students, and doctoral students, creating a vibrant and collegial academic atmosphere marked by openness, inspiration, and mutual respect.

PhD Student Presents Breakthrough Research on Soy Peptides at Biomedical Sciences Seminar

The School of Allied Health Sciences at Walailak University successfully organized a Biomedical Sciences & Health Innovation Seminar aimed at promoting academic exchange and advancing research capacity in the fields of biomedical science and health innovation. The seminar was honored by an insightful presentation delivered by Miss Husna Madoromae, a Ph.D. student in the Biomedical Sciences and Health Innovation program. Her presentation, entitled “Identification and Characterization of Immunomodulatory Peptides from Pepsin-Soy Protein Hydrolysates,” highlighted the scientific potential of soy-derived bioactive peptides and their applications in modern medicine and functional nutrition.

 

The presentation emphasized that immunomodulatory peptides obtained from soy protein hydrolysates may serve as a sustainable and safer alternative to synthetic immune-modulating agents. This research aligns closely with current global trends that focus on health promotion, disease prevention, and the growing demand for functional foods. Miss Husna’s work demonstrates significant promise for the development of innovative soy-based health products that could help reduce the risk of chronic diseases while supporting immune system function and overall well-being.

 

The seminar ended with an engaging discussion between the presenter and faculty members. This allowed helpful feedback and knowledge sharing. The event shows the School’s commitment to a supportive academic environment and encourages high-impact research among new biomedical scientists.

This visit is organized for research purposes and is invited and coordinated by Assoc. Prof. Nujaree Jeenduang, Associate Professor, School of Allied Health Sciences, Walailak University.

 

The visiting professors include Dr. K. I. King, Professor and Head of the Department of Physiology from Mahayogi Gorakhnath University Gorakhpur, Dr. Pradoldej Sompol, Assistant Professor from the University of Kentucky, and Dr. Vikas Kumar Tiwari, Assistant Professor from Mahayogi Gorakhnath University Gorakhpur. Their expertise spans physiology, neuroscience, aging, and neurodegenerative diseases, contributing valuable international perspectives to the School’s research and academic environment.

The School of Allied Health Sciences, Walailak University is pleased to welcome Asst. Prof. Yukawa Masashi from Ehime University, Japan, as a Visiting Professor during 19 January – 8 February 2026. The visit is hosted by the School of Allied Health Sciences and co-hosted by RECIHP (Research Center of Excellence in Innovation in Health Products), reflecting the School’s commitment to strengthening international academic and research collaboration.

 

Asst. Prof. Yukawa Masashi’s research expertise lies in immunology and molecular biology, with a focus on immune regulation, cancer-related mechanisms, and DNA/RNA-based cellular and sequencing research, bridging fundamental and translational approaches. During his three-week visit, he will engage in collaborative research discussions, observe teaching classes, and participate in academic and scholarly activities, fostering knowledge exchange and research networking within the School.

 

In addition, several academic sessions will be organized at the C7 Building (Room TBA), including open research discussion sessions for faculty members and graduate students (27 Jan, 30 Jan, and 2 Feb 2026; 1:00–3:00 PM), one-on-one research proposal/manuscript consultations with advance booking (22–23 and 29–30 Jan 2026; 9:00 AM–12:00 PM; limited slots), and a workshop titled “Data Analysis for Sequencing Data” (28 Jan and 4 Feb 2026; 1:00–4:00 PM).

Walailak University Physical Therapy Program Sends Support to Athletes and Faculty Member at the Dubai 2025 Asian Youth Para Games

The Physical Therapy Program, School of Allied Health Sciences, Walailak University, extends its sincere support and encouragement to the athletes and Asst.Prof. Supattra Chaibal, a faculty member of the Physical Therapy Program, who has been appointed to serve as a Physical Therapist representing the Sports Association for the Disabled of Thailand under the Royal Patronage.

Asst. Prof. Supattra Chaibalan is participating in the Dubai 2025 Asian Youth Para Games, held from December 7–14, 2025, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

In addition, she has also taken part in the World Archery “National Classifier for Physical Impaired Athlete Course,” an international professional development program aimed at enhancing expertise in the classification of athletes with physical impairments in archery. This training contributes significantly to the advancement of professional standards in para-sports at both national and international levels.
