School of Allied Health Sciences Welcomes Medical Laboratory Science Students from the University of Kentucky, USA
The School of Allied Health Sciences, Walailak University, is pleased to welcome Mr. Kyan Peterson and Mr. Sean Michael Schumacher, Medical Laboratory Science students from the University of Kentucky, USA, who will participate in the Kentucky MT Clinical Internship Program 2026 from 2 July to 28 August 2026.
During their eight-week internship, the students will receive clinical training at the Medical Technology Laboratory, Walailak University Hospital, gain exposure to laboratory practices in affiliated hospitals, participate in academic activities alongside students in the Medical Technology International (MTI) Program, and engage in cultural exchange activities in Nakhon Si Thammarat.
This internship program reflects the strong and growing academic partnership between Walailak University and the University of Kentucky. Over the years, the collaboration has expanded through a variety of academic activities, including research collaborations, faculty and staff exchanges, student mobility programs, and research training opportunities. These initiatives have contributed significantly to enhancing internationalization, academic excellence, and global learning experiences for students and faculty members from both institutions.
The School would like to express its sincere appreciation to Prof. Jitbanjong Tangpong, School of Allied Health Sciences, Walailak University, for initiating and continuously supporting this valuable collaboration. Her vision, leadership, and commitment have played a significant role in creating meaningful international opportunities for students, faculty members, and researchers.
The School also acknowledges the invaluable support of Prof. Steve Schwarze, Ph.D., MLS(ASCP) SBB, Medical Laboratory Science Program Director, Department of Health and Clinical Sciences, College of Health Sciences, University of Kentucky, USA. As a key partner in this collaboration, Prof. Steve has played an important role in strengthening academic and professional ties between the two institutions and facilitating opportunities for student clinical training, academic exchange, and international engagement. His support and commitment have been instrumental in the successful development of this internship program.
As preparations continue for the students’ arrival, the School of Allied Health Sciences looks forward to welcoming Mr. Peterson and Mr. Schumacher to Walailak University. We are excited to support their academic and clinical learning journey while further strengthening the friendship and collaboration between our institutions.
