The History of the School of Allied Health Sciences

From 1998 to November 30th, 2016

         The School of Allied Health Sciences and Public Health was founded in accordance with Walailak University’s Health Science policy according to state authority. The first batch of students were inaugurated in 1998 to study in three curriculums: Medical Technology, Environmental Health, and Occupational Health and Safety. In 2005, the School opened a Physical Therapy program for the first time in the South; this move was aimed at cultivating higher educational programs and providing much-needed Health Care professionals to the community.

         The School then introduced the Master of Science (Program in Biomedical Sciences) and Master of Public Health (Major in Health Promotion and Public Health Management) in 2004 and 2006 respectively; in addition the PhD in Biomedical Sciences was launched in 2007. Walailak University has been offering education in a three-trimester format with a philosophy to incorporate the “servicing and completing the mission” ideal, combining all the associated structures such as the educational support system, financial system, accounts and equipment as well as personnel and organizational management.

        Walailak University aims to support the agencies at the academic level according to the four aspects of the mission statement: producing graduates, research, academic service, and arts and culture preservation.

From December 1st, 2016 – present

On December 1st, 2016, the School of Allied Health Sciences and Public Health was divided into two separate schools namely the School of Public Health and the School of Allied Health Sciences.
